Funmilayo Ransome Kuti
Born: 25 October, 1900.
Funmilayo Kuti was a teacher, a political campaigner, a women’s right activist, a mother – of Africa and legends (Seun, Femi and Fela Kuti)

Funmi started many movements, lead so many unions and won prizes for her efforts. But she will also be remembered for being the first Nigerian woman to drive a car.

It must have taken courage and guts to make such a move in a “man’s world”. Funmi did more than just drive a car. She started an inward revolution for women in Nigeria. She made dreams seem more like reality. Her actions showed that women could do much more than what society had assigned to them as of that era.
She did more than just make women believe, she made them take action.
